During the gadget explosion of the late 70s and early 80s, you could own a simple four function, 8-digit calculator from a myriad of companies for very little money. But why a basic calculator, when you can have one that plays music, or allows you to make music. One that can used as a travel alarm, or convert currency on holiday. Or even one with a challenging game to help pass time at the dentist's office. It's more fun than reading that April 1984 issue of Highlights magazine that's been there since your last 6 month check-up.

Please enjoy your tour of a bevy of post-LED generation calculators from your friends at Pocket Calculator Show. And if you have an unusual LCD calculator to add to our museum, please send us a pic!

Hang-A-Round

This Sharp Elsi-Mate is a very elegant pocket watch style calculator which sold for close to $100 in some places. Is in fact a digital watch and alarm. From 1980, the model EL-8061 was nicknamed the "Hang-A-Round."

Casio MQ-10

Here's a terrific little Casio MQ-10, we presume to of mid '70s vintage. It offers the traditional calculator features, as well as a timer and chronograph with alarm. This was to be worn as a necklace, so we presume women were the target customer group for this attractive little model.

Calculighter

One of two "calculighters" you'll discover in our old calcs musuem. Refillable lighter from 1980 in a solid black-anodized finish and with standard calculator functions. For the chain-smoking accountant who has everything...

Zykkor LC-244

We'll continue with the "calc-cessory" theme with this little keychain calculator by Zykkor. What a nice little all-metal model, only slightly larger than a set of car keys.
